The military pays for cosmetic surgery, Breast Implants, etc. but will they pay for a sex change operation?

“For years, the military has offered its recruits free tuition, specialized training, and a host of other benefits to compensate for the tremendous sacrifices they are called upon to make. Lately, many of them have been taking advantage of another perk: free cosmetic surgery…”

(((Matt E))): “Its about training and need.” So…. there’s no need Army doctors to train for penis (re)attachment or vagina (re)construction surgery?

I highly doubt it!! I know they won’t pay for a sonogram to find out the sex of your baby before it is born so I would think they wouldn’t pay for that!!

Impant safety for Saline Breast Implants?

I am having a breast lift and saline implants added for volume. What I’d like to know is have there been any issues with the plastic from the pouch that holds the saline being leeched into the body?

In reality, breast implants are quite durable, and while occurrences of ruptures do exist, they are not common. For one brand of breast implant, the incidence of rupture after breast augmentation was 2.7% over 4 years. A study conducted with 106 women who had breast implants an average of 11 years showed an incidence of rupture of 15%. (Please note that this study was done in Europe and may have included older types of implants.) A study of saline implants found that leakage or deflation occurred in about 3% of cases after 3 years.
A rupture occurs when the shell of the implant develops a tear or hole. Rupture in a silicone implant may be what is called “silent.” This means that you have no signs that your implants are leaking. With saline implants, rupture will cause the breast to deflate, either slowly or quickly. However, the saline solution is safe for your body and will get absorbed.

New York City breast augmentation is something that most masters would deliberate trivial. No, that tastes like chicken.

Silicone Implants Don’t Raise Risk for Breast Cancer

For women considering breast augmentation, it can be a daunting task to research the history, safety and effectiveness of saline and Silicone Breast Implants. And even though the complication rates are low, you still have to prepare yourself for the possibility of side effects. And while you are researching your facts, you must make sure you get your information from a credible source – there are a lot of rumored risks surrounding silicone in particular that have no scientific basis.

The myth that silicone implants may raise your risk of breast cancer is one such piece of information that is not rooted in fact. Extensive studies have been performed to address this hypothesis, and the definitive study examining a potential link was conclusive with findings that silicone implants do not raise the risk for breast cancer. And actually, a 2006 study in Sweden found that women who have breast implants may actually enjoy the benefit of a reduced risk of breast cancer!

There tends to be more discussion of silicone implants and their potential dangers because these types of implants were banned from the market for a period of time after they were found to be linked to systemic diseases following leakage and rupture.

Silicone implants are now back on the market, FDA-approved, and safer than ever before. Today’s models use state-of-the-art technology to ensure patients do not face additional risks above and beyond the normal, accepted and relatively low complication rate. For women will not consider using silicone implants due to myths like the silicone/breast cancer one, they may be missing out on the advantages of this material.

The benefits of silicone implants include:

• Some patients prefer silicone due to a more natural appearance and feel.

• Rippling is less likely to occur with silicone than saline.

• The texture of the silicone is gel-like, so it moves similar to breast tissue.

• Silicone can be placed over the muscle.

• Silicone can be placed successfully in women with little breast tissue.

• Silicone implants are less likely to be seen through the skin than saline (when choosing over the muscle implants).

If you are considering having
breast augmentation surgery
, get your facts from a board-certified cosmetic surgeon who can provide you with accurate, scientific information about your risks and the potential side effects. Choose a cosmetic surgery center that promotes safety during all phases of care and uses only FDA-approved implants.

breast implants operations
Is there upkeep or follow up if you get a breast reduction?

My breast are different cup sizes, and I know people say that is normal, but one is a C and the other is like a D and a 1/2 and I think that is quite a drastic difference.

I’m very ashamed of it, and very self conscious. My hubby says he doesn’t even notice but I get embarrased even when he sees me with my shirt off sometimes. When just him and I arm home I won’t even wear a shirt without a bra because I’m self conscious about how obviously different sized my breast are.

I think I would feel so much better if I could get an operation to make the bigger one match the smaller one but I really don’t want to if I have to keep following up with it (I don’t mean initially to make sure everything is okay – I mean like you have to go in every couple years with Breast Implants.) I’m hoping not since they aren’t adding anything.

I know it may not seem important or shallow, but its something I can’t seem to get over.

Also, does it effect breast feeding in the future? Thanks.

It isn’t shallow at all.
I had a breast reduction when I was about 22, so almost 9 years ago now…
While the doctors want you to come back in for follow up after the initial visit, you don’t have to. I never did. When you get your annuals from your OB they make sure everything is okay in that area anyways. You have the mammogram beforehand and then they send the tissue off to a lab to be checked and thats really it. You go back in for two post op visits..one to take the drainage tubes out and another one later.

Since you are self conscious about what you have now, I would suggest that you do a search online and look at before and after pics..and keep in mind that the doctors are only putting the very least amount of scar tissue cases up for show.
I have ALOT of scarring, to the point that I will someday have another surgery to get some of it fixed. I am not sure if it is normal or if I just didn’t heal as well as some women do. MY areolas are crooked. Some of the butterfly tape used to close me off came off earlier than it needed to and that caused scarring, and also there was some amoung of minor infection that didn’t help either.
If you take a long time for a cut to heal and you generally have a red mark there for a while after, your scarring will be like that too.

I had a daughter 17 months ago, and I breastfed a bit…not much came in. They don’t discriminate the tissue when they cut it out, so you won’t know how much mammory glands you have to make milk until you have a baby.

If you are thinking about having kids soon, I would wait until after you have them to get the surgery done if you want to breastfeed…because let me tell you…I either need a lift or another reduction. If you want to breastfeed, you might as well wait. If you decide to have the surgery, I would honestly recommend that you request that pill you can take to stop your milk from coming in…because it will come in the breast that hadn’t had the surgery even more…and you will be back to the same issue before the surgery.

All in all knowing what I know now about the surgery and the extensive scarring I have, the breastfeeding debacle, etc..I would still have had the surgery. It was worth it.
