Silicone Implants Banned

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

do you think Silicone Implants should be allowed back in the market?

by the way.. what was the 9-6 vote for lifting the ban earlier for? to really lift the ban?! or to consider lifting the ban?

Yes, the ban was put into place because trial lawyers scared the jury into believing the horror stories. There are no problems with the implants as attested to by hundreds of mastectomy patients who use them to bring normalcy back to their lives.

breast implants gel filled
Breast augmentation surgery – gel or saline – optimal implant size.?

I measure 38″ around my ribs under my boobs and fill a B cup. Would a 38D be better than a 38C? I’m 5’7″ tall and weigh 170 lb.
Oops! Brain ahead of fingers again.
Not 57″
Should be 5′ 7″ or 67″.
Thanks for pointing it out so diplomatically.

Before you even consider plastic surgery make sure that you are at your ideal weight! What is the use of beautiful boobs if the rest of your body does not match. Besides if you have the implants and then lose weight after the fact your breast will lose weight as well and they might end up sagging.
When you are at your ideal weight (maybe 135 to 145 lbs) measure yourself again.
For example: I am your height and my weight is 140 lbs. My chest measures 29 inches under the boobs so my doctor decided that anywhere from 500 to 600cc would look very nice. Also you need to consider the fact that after surgery you will not be able to exercise for a few months and therefore will gain more body fat.
As to your saline or gel question: Gel feels more natural but is more expensive and in the event of a leak it will be more work for your surgeon to remove the gel.
Saline is safer in the event of a leak because your body absorbs the saline. If you do have a leak you will notice that right away. My personal opinion, choose a silicon shell with saline filling.

Yes. The FDA is way way way behind on the research on this. Silcone is avail all over the world in countries that do quite a bit more research than the FDA does. The lift of the ban makes sense. Read the studies if you are comfortable with statistics. You will come to the same conclusion.
