I’ve heard that you can if the incision is in the crease under the breast- but not if the incision is around or through the nipple.

There can be problems breastfeeding with either incision. If the incision is around the nipple, there is a risk of nerve damage or a loss of sensitivity that can inhibit breastfeeding. No matter where the incision was made, one or more milk ducts may have been severed, thus compromising your milk supply. Your best bet would be to ask your surgeon specific questions about your surgery and then discuss your options with a lactation consultant before your baby is born.

As far as the fake breasts are concerned, I think they are impressive when you look at them but I do not personally like how they feel, so all other things being equal I would prefer the girl with the reall ones.
I would not recomend them.

Recent data from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) support the survey findings. In 2006, nearly 11.5 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the United States, an increase of 446 percent in the last decade. What’s more, breast augmentation surgery surpassed liposuction as the No. 1 surgical cosmetic procedure for women in 2006, with more than 380,000 procedures performed.

"The NWHRC survey results echo what I hear from patients in my practice. My typical breast aesthetic patient looks just like your sister, your neighbor or the school librarian. She’s well-educated, savvy and she has turned her attention back onto herself after years of taking care of everyone else," says Caroline Glicksman, M.D., a plastic surgeon in private practice in New Jersey. All current implants have a silicone rubber shell. The shell can be filled with salt water (saline) or silicone gel. Because the body is largely composed of salt water, saline implants are the safest available. Saline-filled implants can be placed through smaller incisions because they are inflated after they are placed. However, because of their watery consistency, they are less natural than silicone gel implants that more closely resemble a breast in feel and appearance. One of the common complaints regarding saline is that particularly in thinner individuals, implant visibility such as rippling is greater. Usually over the course of years, the silicone rubber shell can crack, this results in deflation which requires replacement. The leaked saline is usually considered harmless and is absorbed and excreted by the body.

More recently, silicone gel implants have again become available for use in woman 22 years of age and older, who desire their placement. Patients and surgeons tend to agree that these look and feel more natural. As with saline devices, the silicone rubber shell may crack over time and rupture can develop. Fortunately, most ruptures are contained within the fibrous capsule that surrounds the implant. However, removal of the capsule and implant material is a more involved procedure than the initial augmentation procedure. Most ruptures beyond the capsules appear to have occurred in the past due to trauma related to the squeezing of the capsules (and implants) in an effort to soften firm scar tissue. This closed capsulotomy procedure is no longer a recommended procedure and it should not be done. Studies continue following FDA approval. It is hoped that the newer designs will have a lower rate of encapsulation (hardening), as well as a decreased rate of rupture. However, the studies are ongoing.

Newer materials include more "cohesive" silicone fillers. These materials could be less of an issue in the event of rupture. Silicone gel implants are often selected by very thin woman and those undergoing reconstruction of the breast following mastectomy.

Large Breast Implants – Is A Larger Implant Better

Generally, the larger you want your bra cup size, the larger the breast implant the plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgeon will consider (measured in cubic centimeters, or cc’s). You will be measured and counseled during your consultation and the plastic surgeon will try to create a blend between what is reasonably possible and your own desires. The size is usually capped at 1200cc. If you are considering large breast implants, choose a breast implant surgeon who has extensive experience with these types of large breast implants. These super sized breast implants require long surgical incisions and can usually only be placed through the incision site – inframammary fold ( under the breast fold ). This is a 1 to 2 inch incision under the breast fold. This approach and technique affords the plastic surgeon the greatest control over the position of the breast implant This also gives the patient a more attractive cleavage. The incision scar is very favorable. The larger the implant size you choose, the wider the breast implants will be. While larger or wider implants create cleavage, there is a limit on how large of an implant can fit on your chest.

Benefits and Advantages of Large Breast Implants

Increasing breast size is the primary reason most women choose to undergo breast augmentation. Large implants, such as those used in DD cup are ideal for women who desire a dramatic change in the contour of their bodies. These patients will not have the issue about worrying about going too small that can occur with small implants.

Disadvantages of Large Breast Implants

Your plastic surgeon will evaluate your existing tissue to determine if you have enough tissue to cover the implant. If you desire a breast implant size too large for your tissue, the plastic surgeon may warn you that implant edges may be apparent or visible post-operatively. Surgical complications may rise due to larger implants. Also, excessively large implants may speed up the effects of gravity and result in earlier droop or sag. Breast augmentation surgery using large breast implants take approximately two hours – longer than normal. In some cases, certain patients may need to have multiple surgeries so that the breast tissue is given the opportunity to expand. This helps the breast support the increased size of the large breast implant.

Would breast implants hurt worse than a breast reduction?

I am having a breast reduction on the 15th of March and I am freaking out a little.. lol I am a 42G and will have 4-5lbs removed. I am so ready for this, but I am scared about the pain right after..so I am trying to mentally prepare myself for it.. so I want to know if a breast implant would hurt worse than a reduction… (I obviously do not want implants just trying to process what I can expect for pain)..lol

I am excited and ready.. I know that I can expect discomfort for the first week.. I just want to figure out if I can handle the pain.. I have had a hysterectomy and I did fine with that.. so we will see. lol

This is major for me.. so I am slightly freaking out. lol

I don’t know about implants, but i had a reduction a month ago. The pain wasn’t too bad. The first three or four days were the most painful though. It’s not excruciating, but more annoying. I am 1 month post op and i feel fine. There is still some discomfort and i can’t lay on my stomach, lift heavy objects, or run (i can’t wait to get back to the gym lol).

I was surprised because the pain isn’t that bad.

Breast implant?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer about 3 years ago, had a mastectomy on my left breast and then later after chemo I had breast reconstruction done with a silicone breast implant. Has anyone ever experience itching inside the implanted breast? I get itchy inside the implant and can’t feel the skin on the outside…It’s weird! What does this mean?

I’m in the same boat. I had a mastectomy with reconstruction with silicone implant just about a year ago.

Some times it itches like crazy and it’s sooo weird because the skin has no feeling!!

My plastic surgeon and breast surgeon have both told me it’s normal and can just be due to stretching and scar tissue

Is there a doctor who will do breast reconstructive surgery on a cancer survivor for free?

I am wondering if there are any doctors who donate their time to helping people who are uninsured. I had breast cancer 17 years ago. A quarter of my right breast was removed and I chose not to have a silicone implant (risk factor). Due to age and weight gain, I am very lopsided and would like to have breast reconstructive surgery done using the fat from my tummy. I tried to have this procedure done back when I had insurance, but I ended up having a pacemaker put in and my surgeon wouldn’t do the surgery then. I have since lost my job and have no health insurance. Although this is not a life saving procedure I need, it is an emotional one that has torn up my self esteem real bad. Thanks!

If I were you I would check out some of the following avenues:

1.) Susan G. Komen foundation and/or the American Cancer Society – see if they can offer any direction.
2.) Check with your local Cancer Center or affiliated hospital to see if they can refer to any doctor that would do that or work with you on payments.
3.) Check with a University Hospital where they may have Residents or some other program that may be looking for patients for different procedures. (I don’t think I’m wording that correctly, LOL….not trying to make you sound like a guinea pig.)
4.) Check with a teaching hospital or any facility to see if they ever use any of their surgeries for teaching, such as making educational “How To” videos, etc. Usually they “comp” those procedures.
5.) Check for clinical trials that would have to do with reconstruction, as those services would be free.
