please tell me which anethesia your wie received?
I don’t have implants, but I’ve anesthetized a bunch of women for the procedure.
The first step is to talk to a plastic surgeon and see what he/she recommends. Not every implant works for every person. They come in different sizes and shapes, and can be placed under the breast tissue or under the muscle. You need to be examined to see how much of your own tissue you have, how much ptosis and/or pseudoptosis you have, and what the size and shape of your chest wall are.
As for the anesthesia, you CAN have it done under local, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s hard to get complete numbness in that area, but it can be done with a combination of rib blocks and local infiltration. If you’re skinny, though, you might be limited by the toxicity of the local anesthetic – it might take more to get you numb than you can safely have – safe amounts are based on body weight.
You also have to know how quick your surgeon is. I’ve seen implants be put in with surgical times as quick as 35 minutes, and as long as 2 1/2-3 hours. Different surgeons do the procedure in different ways, and some are just slow.
You might also get squirmy if you have sedation instead of general anesthesia, and surgeons really hate that. General anesthesia, even without paralytics, relaxes the muscles, which is helpful during a submuscular implant placement.
Hope that helps.
