Breast Implants Hollywood

What country and which ethnicities have the highest rates of surgical booty implants?
Personally I find the upward swing or trend of plastic surgery to be discouraging — the fact that people pay money to “fix” their exterior, rather than working on their heart, soul and inner self. Particularly in L.A./Hollywood, where I’m from, the plastic surgery trend is really out of control. Breast enlargements, rhinoplasty and liposuction have been around for some time now, but there has recently been a trend with women getting butt implants to enlarge their gluteus maximus. I find this to be so unbelievably interesting and can’t help but think music videos and pop culture are contributing to this. I wonder if anyone can establish a link between trends like Beyonce’s booty poppin’ videos or J-Lo’s bodacious bod with this evolution of elective surgery.
Although the first silicone injections to enlarge breasts were tried in Japan just after WW2, American women have the statistically highest occurrence of implants. This is quite possibly due to our shallowness in choosing image over substance–something that Hollywood and advertisers promote. In the U.S. we even choose our politicians based on looks rather than ethics–e.g. Pres. Reagan and California’s Schwarzenegger (pls. forgive me if I misspelled his name, but the muscle-bound, make-up covered twit is not worth the effort of looking it up.) Here’s the stats:
Demographics
Breast enlargement is the second most common cosmetic surgical procedure practiced on women in the United States. It increased by 306% between 1992 and 1998. According to the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, more than 125,000 breast augmentation procedures are performed each year.
Presently, more than two million, or approximately 8%, of women in the United States have Breast Implants. The majority of breast implant recipients are Caucasian women (95%), followed by African-American women (4%). The remaining women that have breast implants are Asian (0.5%) and other non-specified races (0.5%).
(The numbers, per capita, for other countries are not even close.)
