Need some advice on Protein Shakes HELP!!?

I’m 18 years old. I’ve been working out for 1 year and a half. but i always go on and off. I always take protein shakes after workouts. Recently i read a book called Body sculpting bible for men.
The book gave me a routine to workout and eat. In the eating section it says to eat 6 meals a day. 3 of the meals are protein shakes. (note:1 of those 3 protein shakes come after the workout in that day)
I talked to my aunty today and she was saying that people recently discovered that too much of protein shakes in ur body produce “silicone” (the thing used to make Breast Implants).
she also said that after taking protein shakes for a long time, and if u stop for like a week or maybe 2, or just quit over all, but still continue to workout without the protein shakes, u will lose all u worked for
My question : Is this true? Is protein shakes bad in the long run since i take 3 a day? do they really make silicone

Silicone is a synthetic rubberised polymer. It is not a natural substance. Protein is a natural substance, an amino acid, I think, which your body requires to repair muscles. Your body breaks down food to isolate the protein so that it can do its job. The whey protein that tis put into shake mixes comes from cow’s milk. The protein is already isolated from the whey. It’s ok to drink milk isn’t it? Only in the form you take it.. all the fat and carbs are significantly reduced.

It is also not true about losing all you have worked for. Those are indeed your muscles you have built … not just water. If you stop the workout then in time you will see some muscle depletion because you are not using your muscles so your body simply consumes them for energy….. but your muscles will not deplete just by stopping your protein shake consumption. Caveat: You need to obtain the energy you require for workouts ~ drink milk for example (only watch out for the additional calories).

I suggest you make sure that what you are taking is just 100% whey protein… and keep up the work. Your Aunty is concerned that there may be other additives in the mix, growth hormones etc which may harm you in the long term.

The protein shakes are to provide you with the additional protein you need to build muscle without hte side effects of additional fat and carbs… You could eat lamb for example.. but it is almost 30% fat compared to your shake which is less than 3%… see the difference?
